Short Seminars for Teachers

During events organised by KTU, teachers are invited to attend free professional development seminars lasting up to two academic hours. These seminars offer an excellent opportunity to combine event participation with strengthening professional competencies and exploring current educational trends, teaching innovations and practical solutions.

Seminars Lasting Up to 2 Academic Hours

These seminars are held exclusively during KTU events, provided that a group of at least 15–20 teachers is formed. Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required. Participants receive a certificate issued by the KTU Centre for Teacher Education.

Workshop “When a Dragon Meets Geiger: A STEM Adventure”

2 academic hours

Participants meet the creators of a unique hydrogen-powered car – the world’s first project of its kind developed by enthusiasts. In the laboratory, they explore the story behind the experiment and how it was carried out, while considering how the project’s successes can inspire engaging STEM learning adventures.

The workshop is delivered in Lithuanian.

Workshop “Difficult Conversations in the Classroom: Let’s Try Forum Theatre”

2 academic hours

How can teachers discuss sensitive topics with students when the classroom falls silent, emotions run high or opinions differ? During this workshop, teachers will try out the forum theatre method, which helps engage students in conversations about bullying, sexuality, addictions, fears about the future and other challenging topics. Participants will learn to create a safe space for discussion, facilitate challenging situations and explore how to apply this method in their lessons and work with their class.

Workshop “The ABCs of Sustainability in Your Classroom”

2 academic hours

How can sustainability topics be made accessible, relevant and practical for students? During this workshop, teachers will explore simple ways to integrate sustainability into lessons, classroom activities and projects. Participants will try practical activities that support discussions about responsible consumption, resource conservation and the environment, and gain concrete ideas they can immediately apply in their classrooms.

Workshop “Outdoor Education: A Classroom Without Walls”

2 academic hours

How can learning extend beyond the classroom and the surrounding environment become a meaningful learning space? During this workshop, teachers will explore the principles of outdoor education and practical ways to organise learning activities outdoors. Participants will try activities that encourage students’ curiosity, inquiry, collaboration and experiential learning, and discuss how to adapt them to their subject lessons.

Workshop “Essential Elements of Problem-, Project-, Inquiry-, Challenge- and Phenomenon-Based Learning Scenarios”

2 academic hours

Working collaboratively, participants will develop elements of a learning scenario based on one of these approaches – problem-, project-, inquiry-, challenge- or phenomenon-based learning – and prepare concise descriptions of these elements.

The workshop is delivered in Lithuanian.

Seminar “Five Generations Under One School Roof: Insights from Generational Theory into Values, Communication and Learning”

2 academic hours

This seminar explores differences in values, communication and learning across generations and their relevance to contemporary schools. Participants will examine insights from generational theory and consider how to apply them in education to strengthen mutual understanding and effective collaboration.

Professional Development Session “Leveraging Custom AI for Action-Oriented Scenario Design”

2 academic hours

Teachers will explore the action-oriented approach to language education and the potential of generative artificial intelligence. The session will demonstrate how AI assistants can help teachers create engaging learning scenarios, tasks and assessment tools more quickly, and organise teaching more efficiently. Participants will learn practical ways to apply AI solutions in their everyday work, saving time and enhancing the quality of learning.

The session is delivered in English.

Seminar “Artificial Intelligence in Education: From Tools to Meaningful Learning Activities”

2 academic hours

In this seminar, participants will explore the potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and discuss how AI can support the planning of learning activities, the development of assignments, and the creation of teaching materials. The focus will be not only on AI tools but also on pedagogical decisions – when and how to use these tools to foster learners’ active engagement, independence, and critical thinking. During hands-on activities, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with AI tools.

The seminar is delivered in Lithuanian and English.
