The Laboratory for Prototyping and Researching STEAM Education Solutions is a space where experimental educational models are developed, tested and studied to improve accessibility in teaching and learning, address diverse needs and support every student’s learning success. Its activities are grounded in an interdisciplinary STEAM approach that brings together the exploration of real-world problems and the development of solutions, scientific and engineering thinking, the analysis of societal needs and the exploration of cultural experiences and their meaning.
The laboratory develops, tests and refines educational resources, learning scenarios and teaching methods designed to foster students’ creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and technological competencies. Research examines the impact of these resources, scenarios and methods on learning outcomes, motivation and engagement.
Particular attention is given to inquiry, hands-on experimentation and the development of engineering thinking among students with diverse learning needs, including gifted students and those experiencing learning difficulties. In the laboratory, educators develop and strengthen their competencies in creating learning environments and STEAM teaching methods that respond to diverse educational needs, enabling every student to engage, experience learning success and realise their potential.
The laboratory serves as a collaborative platform connecting researchers, educators, schools and educational partners to develop and test educational models for the future that incorporate real-world inquiry, collaboration, creative problem-solving, responsible civic participation and sustainability principles.
