MapLab: Learning Analytics Prototyping Laboratory

MapLab brings together research in learning analytics, educational sciences and psychology to better understand students’ engagement, motivation and changes in academic achievement. Data analysis provides the foundation for developing and evaluating solutions that support targeted improvements to learning environments and educational processes.

About the Laboratory

MapLab conducts interdisciplinary research in educational sciences and psychology to better understand learning processes, student motivation, and the factors influencing achievement across different educational settings. MapLab applies advanced analytic approaches to learning data and uses the findings to develop research-based educational solutions.

Main research areas include student engagement in digital environments, factors influencing learning motivation, and achievement analytics. Research examines learner engagement over time, motivation, and the social, emotional, and cognitive aspects of learning, as well as academic achievement trajectories and their predictors.

Particular focus is placed on digital learning environments, exploring how core instructional dimensions – including task design, autonomy, assessment, collaboration, rewards, and pacing – shape motivation and learning outcomes.

The lab uses longitudinal and experimental research methods supported by advanced data collection and analysis tools.
